How to Visit Facility
Visiting David Wade Correctional Center takes some planning, but it's straightforward once you know the schedule. The key is timing your trip around the facility's set visiting days and check-in cutoffs.
Louisiana Department of Corrections policy allows visitation at each institution, but the facility can limit visits based on security needs and available space. Even if you plan within the normal schedule, access may still be affected by staffing, safety concerns, or other operational issues.
David Wade visiting schedule (regular): Visits are Thursday through Saturday, with visiting hours from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. You will not be admitted between 11:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., and visits cannot start after 3:00 p.m.
Steps Follow
- ✓ Plan your visit for Thursday, Friday, or Saturday.
- ✓ Arrive during visiting hours (8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.).
- ✓ Do not arrive to check in between 11:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., because incoming visitors are not admitted during that window.
- ✓ Make sure your visit starts before 3:00 p.m. (no visits start after 3:00 p.m.).
- ✓ Keep in mind visitation is permitted for authorized visitors, but it can be limited by institutional security needs and physical limitations.
Before you travel, confirm there are no temporary changes or added restrictions. The facility can adjust visitation to meet security needs, which may affect whether your visit happens as planned.
- ✓ Confirm the facility is still using the regular visiting days (Thursday through Saturday).
- ✓ Confirm visiting hours are still 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- ✓ Confirm the admission blackout is still 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
- ✓ Confirm visits still cannot start after 3:00 p.m.
- ✓ Ask whether holidays or current operations change the normal schedule.
