What You Can and Can't Bring to Madison CI: Visitor Checklist for Cash, Baby Items, and Medications
Visiting Madison CI goes smoother when you show up with only what's allowed. Here's a quick checklist for vending cash, baby items, and prescription medications—so you don't end up turning things back at the door.
You can bring cash for the vending machines in the visiting area - up to $50.00 per visitor. That money is strictly for snacks and beverages. Under no circumstances can you give cash to an inmate.
- ✓ $1 bills
- ✓ $5 bills
- ✓ $10 bills
- ✓ $20 bills
Infant Items
- ✓ No more than five (5) diapers
- ✓ Up to three (3) clear baby bottles
- ✓ Up to two (2) toddler sipper cups
- ✓ Up to three (3) clear plastic jars of sealed (unopened) baby food
If you need to bring prescription medication with you, it has to stay in its original prescribed container. Don’t transfer pills to a different bottle or organizer for the visit.
- Check the medication type on the label - the container needs a clearly readable label that identifies what the medication is.
- Confirm the dosage requirements are listed - the label must show the dosage requirements.
- Make sure the prescription name matches you - the label must include the name of the person the medication was prescribed to.
Wear a shirt into the visiting area. If you arrive without one, you can be denied entry.
Shoes are required too. Plan your footwear ahead of time so you don't have to leave and come back.
Heads up: Heelys (shoes with wheels) and any footwear with removable parts aren’t allowed for visitors.
This checklist covers items mentioned in the available visiting rules, but it's not a complete list of everything prohibited or allowed. Planning to bring something not listed here? Call the facility first to confirm.
