Madison County Jail offers three ways to add commissary funds. The lobby kiosk accepts cash or debit/credit cards. You can also deposit online through Inmate Canteen. Prefer the phone? Call 706-298-4974 to make a deposit.

Credit card transactions - including online deposits - come with limits. Each transaction caps at $150, and there's a $500 total limit per 30-day period. Here's the catch: that $500 includes fees, not just the deposit amount. If you hit the cap sooner than expected, fees are usually why.

Fees Comparison

  • Lobby kiosk (cash deposit): $3.00 fee
  • Lobby kiosk (credit-card deposit): 10% of the deposit amount, with a $3.25 minimum fee
  • Web/online deposit (credit): 10% of the deposit amount, with a $3.25 minimum fee

Tip: For smaller deposits, that minimum fee on card and web payments adds up fast. Compare the flat $3.00 cash-kiosk fee against the 10% card fee (minimum $3.25) and pick whichever costs less.

Leftover funds don't automatically follow someone home after release. To collect remaining money, the released person needs to visit the Pistol Permit Office at 603 Fiber Street, Huntsville, AL 35801. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (closed holidays), and valid ID is required.

Placed a commissary order right before release? Those items aren't lost. The jail holds them for five (5) business days at Kimble's Commissary Office, where they can be picked up.

Need emergency access to funds during detention? Madison County Jail offers a "Request for the Release of Funds" form. It's a one-time option, available only within the first 60 days of detention. Released funds get picked up at the Pistol Permit Office (603 Fiber Street, Huntsville, AL 35801), Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., excluding holidays. Bring valid ID.
