Madison County Jail limits what an inmate can keep in their cell. The maximum allowed at any one time is: 1 book, 1 magazine, 3 newspapers, and 1 Bible or Koran. Only one book can be in an inmate's possession at a given time, so plan accordingly before sending reading material.

  • Books must be new, and they must be softback (no hardcover).
  • Books must be sent directly from a mainstream publisher or bookstore (for example: Amazon, Books-a-Million, Barnes and Noble).

Do not send: Stickers and labels are prohibited on all incoming and outgoing mail. Hardcover books are also not allowed.
