How to Visit Facility
Visiting Rayburn Correctional Center is straightforward once you know the schedule and cutoffs. The key things: show up on the right day, arrive early enough to be processed, and follow Louisiana DPS&C visitation rules.
In Louisiana's DPS&C system, visitation is a privilege, not a right. That includes Rayburn Correctional Center. Visits can be restricted, denied, or suspended if the imprisoned person or visitor breaks the rules. Want the full rulebook? Ask for Department Regulation OP-C-9 or request a copy directly from the facility.
Visiting hours at Rayburn are 11:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. on Thursdays and 8:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Friday through Sunday. There's a firm cutoff: you must be at the front gate by 2:00 p.m. to be processed. Arrive later and you won't get in.
Steps to Follow
- ✓ Go during posted visiting hours: Thursday (11:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.) or Friday through Sunday (8:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.)
- ✓ Be at Rayburn Correctional Center’s front gate by 2:00 p.m. so you can be processed for the visit
- ✓ Follow Louisiana DPS&C visitation rules (Department Regulation OP-C-9). Visits can be restricted, denied, or suspended if rules are not followed
If staff deny or cut short your visit, it's usually because someone didn't follow Department rules. Before you leave home, make sure you have the required ID and documentation. Plan your day around OP-C-9 so you don't get turned away over something avoidable.
Before you make the drive, call to confirm the current schedule. Verify three things: visiting days and hours (Thursday 11:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., Friday through Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.), the 2:00 p.m. arrival cutoff for processing, and whether there have been any rule updates under Department Regulation OP-C-9. While you're on the phone, ask what ID or paperwork you need so you're not delayed at check-in. If you don't already have a copy of OP-C-9, request one so you can review the rules ahead of time.
Note: Because visitation is a privilege, eligibility can change. Confirm there are no temporary restrictions affecting the imprisoned person or your ability to visit. Double-check which OP-C-9 rules the facility is currently enforcing.
