How to Get an Inmate's Property from Marathon County Jail (what's released, who can pick it up)

Marathon County Jail does not accept personal property from outside visitors. You cannot drop off items for someone to use while they are housed there. Property release is limited and handled through a formal process.

If the inmate wants someone else to pick up their belongings, they need to submit a Property Release Form. This form authorizes the jail to release eligible property to that specific person.

Choose carefully. Only the person named on the Property Release Form can pick up the property, so make sure it is someone who can actually show up during pickup hours.

Property pickup happens at the Huber office, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Plan your trip for that weekday window so you are not turned away.

Property must be picked up within 7 days of the inmate's release. If you are listed on the Property Release Form, plan the pickup as soon as possible after the release date.

1. Have the inmate request the Property Release Form - The jail requires a Property Release Form to release eligible property to someone else.
2. Confirm how the form is handled at the jail - If you are not sure where the inmate gets the form or how it is submitted, call the jail for directions.

If the person named on the Property Release Form cannot come, the jail will not release the items to someone else. The inmate needs to name someone who can actually show up, rather than trying to send a different family member at the last minute.
