Planning Your Visit to Marcy Correctional Facility: Hours, Arrival Cutoff, Who Can Visit, and What Happens If the Visiting Room Is Full

Marcy Correctional Facility holds visits on weekends, from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Plan your day around that window. Build in extra time for the drive and getting processed at the entrance. The goal is simple: arrive early enough that you're not racing the clock.

Cutoff time: The latest arrival time for visiting at Marcy is 2:30 PM.

Marcy’s weekend visitation is also organized by the last digit of the incarcerated individual’s DIN. Those DIN “last-digit” segments alternate every weekend, so the right weekend for your loved one depends on their DIN. Before you head out, check the facility’s visitation schedule PDF so you don’t show up on a weekend that isn’t assigned to your person’s DIN segment.

Marcy allows a maximum of three visitors per visit. One child under age five can also come along, but they must sit on an adult's lap. Traveling with family or friends? Decide ahead of time who's going in so your group doesn't get split up at the door.

Marcy doesn't cap how many visits someone can receive in a single day. If multiple groups want to visit the same person, they can - there's no daily limit.

  1. Expect staff to ask for volunteers first - if the visiting room needs space, staff will request voluntary termination from visitors to end their visit.
  1. If crowding continues, local visits may be ended after three hours - visits from people who live within 100 miles of the facility can be terminated after three (3) hours, on a first-in, first-out basis.
  1. If space is still needed, longer-distance visits may be ended after three hours - visits for people who traveled over 100 miles can be terminated after three (3) hours, also first-in, first-out.

Special consideration: Before terminating visits, the Superintendent or Officer of the Day may give special consideration to visits with special permission, or to incarcerated individuals who have not received a visit within six months.

If your loved one is in the Special Housing Unit (SHU), visiting works differently. People in SHU custody get one non-legal visit per seven-day period, during regular visiting days and hours.

The seven-day period runs Monday through Sunday. So when planning a SHU visit, think in terms of the calendar week - not seven days from the last visit.
