How to Request Disability Accommodations for Marin County Jail Visits or Services

Need an accommodation to participate in a Marin County program, service, or activity - including jail visits? You can request one. The County of Marin Disability Accommodation Request form handles both accommodation requests and reports of barriers at county facilities.

Try to submit your request at least five business days before your visit or service date. Marin County recommends this timeline to give staff enough time to arrange things. They'll work with shorter notice when possible, but earlier requests have the best chance of being fully set up.

How to Request Disability Accommodations for Marin County Jail Visits or Services

Three Ways Request

  • Call (415) 473-4381 (Voice)
  • Dial 711 for CA Relay
  • Submit the County of Marin Disability Accommodation Request form
  • You can also make requests by email (the email address isn’t included in the excerpted information)

Note: If you use relay services, dial 711 for CA Relay when you contact Marin County about an accommodation request.

Marin County asks for at least five business days' notice on accommodation requests. For jail visits, that means reaching out as soon as you have a date in mind.

Need help sooner? Still ask. Marin County says they'll do their best with less than five business days' notice - just don't count on it. Contact them right away by phone, relay, or the request form.

The County of Marin Disability Accommodation Request form lets you ask for an accommodation or report a barrier at a facility. Don't overthink it - Marin County says you don't need to fill in every field. Provide what you can and submit.

  • Your name and the best way to reach you back
  • The program/service/activity you’re trying to access (for example, a jail visit or another jail-related service)
  • What accommodation you’re requesting (clear, plain language is fine)
  • The date/time you need the accommodation (if you know it)
  • Any barrier you’re reporting at a facility (if that’s part of your request)

Need documents in a different format? Marin County provides copies in alternative formats upon request. Call (415) 473-4381, use CA Relay (711), or submit the Disability Accommodation Request form.

Practical Tips

  • Write down the date you called (415) 473-4381 or dialed 711, and who you spoke with if you get a name
  • If you submit the Disability Accommodation Request form, save a copy (or take a screenshot) for your records
  • If you use relay services, use 711 (CA Relay) so you can communicate in the way that works best for you
  • If your request includes a barrier at a facility, mention that clearly in your form submission

Reminder: If you’re requesting with less than five business days’ notice, Marin County says they’ll do their best to help. Follow up using the same contact method you used to submit your request.
