How to Put Money on Someone’s Account in North Carolina Prisons (online, money order, and phone deposits)
North Carolina prisons use ViaPath (GTL) for tablets and communication services. To add money to someone's account, you'll use ViaPath's deposit options.
The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC) contracts with ViaPath (GTL) for electronic tablets and communication services. That means most deposit methods run through ViaPath's systems: web, mobile app, phone, and walk-in locations. You can also mail a money order. Electronic deposits usually post by the next business day.
Heads up: Web, mobile, phone, and walk-in deposits typically show up in the account by the next business day. Money orders take longer, so plan ahead if you're mailing a payment.
For phone-related funding, ConnectNetwork is ViaPath's portal for prepaid telephone accounts in North Carolina prisons. You'll use it to set up your account, add money, and manage your balance. When your loved one calls, the cost comes from that prepaid balance.
Need help with a deposit? Call ViaPath’s toll-free assistance line at 877-650-4249.
If you have a Friends & Family account through ConnectNetwork, watch your activity. ViaPath marks accounts inactive after 180 consecutive days without use, and inactive balances are subject to forfeiture (unless different rules apply under law or contract). Need a refund on an inactive account? Call ConnectNetwork/ViaPath customer service at 866-516-0115.
- Make the money order payable to TouchPay. This payee name matters for Trust deposits.
- Include the required deposit slip. Mail the money order together with the deposit slip.
- Mail it to TouchPay’s Trust deposit address. Send it to: TouchPay Holdings, LLC, PO Box 174, Houston, TX 77001-0174.
Money orders take longer than electronic deposits. For Trust deposits sent by mail, funds will be available within ten business days. TouchPay makes every effort to post them sooner, but don't count on it.
Not everyone can add money. NCDAC only allows approved visitors to deposit funds to an offender's account. If your deposit keeps getting rejected, check your visitor approval status first.
Deposit not going through? ViaPath’s toll-free assistance line is 877-650-4249.
If you mailed a money order and something seems off (say, it hasn't posted when expected), email ViaPath at moneyorders@viapath.com. Wait at least one week after mailing before you reach out.
Fees vary by deposit method (web, phone, walk-in, etc.). Before you send money, check NCDAC's current money-transfer fee table so you know exactly what you'll pay.
