Three Ways to Pay for Calls from Marion Correctional Treatment Center (Collect, AdvancePay, PIN Debit)
Staying connected through phone calls matters, but figuring out payment options can be tricky. At Marion Correctional Treatment Center (VADOC), you have three choices: collect calls, AdvancePay (pre-paid), and inmate PIN Debit.
Marion Correctional Treatment Center runs on the VADOC phone system, operated by ConnectNetwork through Global Tel*Link. Incarcerated people can place calls paid for in three ways: collect calls billed to whoever answers, pre-paid calls funded through your AdvancePay account, or calls drawn from the inmate's own phone funds (PIN Debit). Which one works best depends on who you want paying and how you prefer to manage the balance.
With collect calls, the charge goes to the phone number receiving the call. VADOC allows inmates to place collect calls as long as the receiving number can accept them. You can refuse any collect or debit call - if the timing doesn't work or you don't want charges on that line, just decline.
Note: Calls are limited to 20 minutes, so plan on shorter conversations and multiple calls if you’re catching up.
AdvancePay is the pre-paid option for family and friends. You add money ahead of time, and calls go through without traditional collect billing. Set up your account online through ConnectNetwork - that's the platform running the VADOC inmate phone system.
- Call ConnectNetwork to start your AdvancePay account - Use the toll-free number 1 (800) 483-8314 to set up AdvancePay by phone.
- Follow the prompts to create and fund the account - Once it’s set up, you can keep a balance available for calls.
Heads up: AdvancePay accounts go inactive after 180 consecutive days without use, and unused funds can be forfeited. For refunds, contact ConnectNetwork customer service at 877-650-4249.
PIN Debit works differently - it's tied to the inmate's phone account, with call costs deducted from their balance. Want to help fund it? You can deposit through ConnectNetwork (the VADOC provider operated by Global Tel*Link), but you'll need the inmate's 7-digit state ID number to make sure the money reaches the right person.
- ✓ The inmate’s 7-digit state ID number
- ✓ A ConnectNetwork account
- ✓ A way to pay for the deposit (your payment method)
Collect calls work fine if you prefer deciding call-by-call - just remember you can always refuse one if the timing or cost doesn't work. For frequent check-ins, AdvancePay tends to be easier since you're managing one account balance instead of approving each charge. Either way, the 20-minute call limit shapes every conversation. Keep some cushion in whatever account you're using, especially if your loved one tends to call back after getting cut off.
Tip: Before you deposit to a PIN Debit account, double-check you have the correct 7-digit state ID number so the funds land in the right place.
