First-Time Visitor Checklist: Everything to Bring and Do Before Your Visit to Mark H Luttrell Correctional

Start with the Visitation Application (CR-2152). The facility provides blank forms to inmates, who can pass them along to people they want on their visitor list. Haven't received one yet? That's your first step - get the form from your loved one and fill it out completely before planning your trip.

Don’t skip the photo: If you don’t attach a current/recent photograph to the CR-2152, the application won’t be processed.

Give yourself time. The facility aims to process applications within about 30 days, so apply early. You won't be admitted until your application is approved - waiting to submit paperwork can easily turn into a missed visit.

Pack light. In the visitation area, you can only have your photo ID and car keys (or key fob) with you. Everything else - wallet, phone, smart watch - stays behind.

Application reminder: Attach a recent photo to the CR-2152 before you turn it in, or it won’t be processed.

Want the visitor handbook mailed to you? Include a self-addressed stamped envelope with your application, and the facility will send it out. Simple add-on that saves guesswork later.

What you wear matters. Mark H Luttrell Correctional expects all visitors - adults and kids - to arrive in appropriate clothing and footwear. Certain items aren't allowed. When in doubt, go with simple, modest, and comfortable clothing that won't get you turned away at check-in.

  • Clothing made from spandex or spandex-type fabric
  • Transparent or translucent clothing items
  • Sleeveless shirts or blouses
  • Dresses or clothing that expose a bare chest or midriff
  • Camouflage attire
  • Bandanas
  • Excessive jewelry
  • Flip flops
  • Steel-toed or composite-toed shoes
  • Shower shoes

Expect security screening when you arrive. All visitors go through multiple checks, including a body scanner. Lots of accessories or extra items in your pockets will slow things down - keep it simple from the start.

Inside the visitation area, you're limited to your photo ID and car keys or key fob. Bringing a baby? Necessary items like diapers, formula powder, and unopened sealed baby food are allowed - but they must be in a clear plastic bag.

Leave everything else behind: Phones, smart watches, wallets, and other personal items should be left secured in your vehicle.

Planning to use the vending machines? Know how payment works before you walk in. The machines use a debit card system, and you'll need to buy or reload those cards in the lobby before entering the visitation area.

There's one narrow exception to the "approved application first" rule. Immediate family of a newly committed inmate may be admitted temporarily - up to 60 days from the inmate's intake date - before the application is approved. After that window closes, you'll need approval to visit.
