Before Your First Video Visit at Marshall County Jail: Complete Preparation Checklist

Start by submitting a copy of your state-issued photo ID through the CIDNET public portal. This electronic ID submission kicks off the jail's approval process, so don't wait until the day you want to talk. Send it in early to give staff time to review your request.

After you submit, watch for a response notification through the portal. Approval (or denial) typically takes 3–5 business days, so factor that into your timeline. One more thing: only approved visitors can participate. If someone is joining you, they'll need to complete the same approval process.

Reserve

  • Request your visit at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Use the CIDNET public portal to submit your reservation request electronically (preferred method).

Prefer to reserve by phone? Call the jail at (641) 754-6380 to request a reservation.

Video visitation hours run daily from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a 30-minute maximum per visit. In-person contact visits aren't available - all visits happen by video.

Note: The Sheriff, Chief Jailer, or a designee can suspend, deny, or terminate visits if there’s suspected potential harm or if the safety and security of the facility is jeopardized.

Doing a remote video visit through CIDNET? You'll need to purchase data through their platform before your session. Someone outside the jail has to complete this purchase - the person in custody can't do it themselves.

Bring Leave

  • Expect that you (and items you bring into the lobby/visitation area) may be searched as a condition of visitation.
  • Don’t bring packages or parcels into the jail building.
  • Leave purses, bags, briefcases, and other extra items secured outside.

Refusing a search means automatic rejection from the visitation area. Bring as little as possible - the Marshall County Sheriff's Office isn't responsible for visitors' personal property.

Assume your visit will be watched and recorded. Keep things respectful and follow the booth rules: stay in your assigned booth and don't try to visit more than one inmate per session.

Reminder: The Sheriff, Chief Jailer, or a designee may suspend, deny, or terminate visits if there’s suspected potential harm or if facility safety and security are jeopardized.

Still waiting on approval? CIDNET reviews typically take 3–5 business days. For other questions, the jail business office is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:20 p.m. (excluding holidays).

Need to schedule by phone or just want a quick answer? Call the jail at (641) 754-6380.
