What to Wear (and What Will Get You Turned Away): Eastern Regional Jail’s Dress Code
Dress code is one of the easiest ways to get a visit derailed, especially if you're coming straight from work or bringing kids along. Eastern Regional Jail's rules are specific. The safest approach: dress simple and conservative.
Female visitors at Eastern Regional Jail can wear only one layer of clothing. Skip the extra tops, cardigans, or anything you planned to keep on "just in case" it's cold. Pick a single outfit that works on its own.
- ✓ No dresses, skirts, or shorts shorter than the tips of your fingertips
- ✓ No tight-fitting, low-cut, see-through, or mesh clothing
- ✓ No tank tops or spaghetti straps
Footwear is strict, too. Female visitors can't wear open-toed shoes (flip flops, slides, sandals). This rule applies to children as well, so plan on closed-toe shoes for everyone in your group.
The same foundation applies to male visitors: one layer of clothing only. Don't count on keeping an extra hoodie, jacket, or second shirt on during the visit.
- ✓ No shoulder-baring clothing
- ✓ No tight-fitting or baggy clothing
- ✓ No hoodies, hooded items, hats, or sunglasses
Eastern Regional Jail requires female visitors to wear a bra. If you're unsure whether the rest of your outfit passes, this is at least one rule that's easy to double-check before you leave home.
Want the lowest-drama option? The facility's "ideal dress" is a T-shirt, jeans, and sneakers (tennis shoes). Stick close to that and you'll avoid surprises at check-in.
Note: Keep your appearance simple and follow any facility guidance on fragrances and odors. When in doubt, skip the perfume or cologne and go with a clean, neutral approach.
