What happens to AdvancePay money after 180 days of inactivity — preventing forfeiture and getting a refund

AdvancePay accounts go inactive when they sit unused. After 180 consecutive days with no activity, your balance can be forfeited - unless governing law or your contract specifies a different timeframe.

Note: The 180-day window isn’t always the same for everyone. The notice says the timeframe can be shorter or longer depending on governing law or contract.

Want a warning before your balance is at risk? If ViaPath has your contact information and you've opted in, they'll send a text or email reminder at least 30 days before your account's scheduled expiration.

Reminder: You only get the 30-day alert if your contact information is on file with ViaPath and you opt in to receiving text and/or email reminders.

If you'd rather get your money back instead of keeping the account open, call ConnectNetwork/ViaPath customer service at 877-650-4249 to request a refund. Have your account details handy so they can locate your AdvancePay account quickly.

  1. Find the right customer service number - Call ConnectNetwork/ViaPath customer service at 877-650-4249.
  2. Explain what you need - Tell the representative you’re requesting a refund for an inactive AdvancePay account.
  3. Verify your identity/account - Answer any verification questions they require so they can access the account.
  4. Confirm the refund request - Ask what to expect next (processing steps and any follow-up needed) and note the details for your records.

The easiest way to avoid forfeiture? Don't let the account sit idle. Any activity during the inactivity period resets the 180-day counter. Even a small transaction before the deadline keeps your account from hitting 180 consecutive days of non-use (unless governing law or your contract specifies a different period).

  • Make a small purchase using the AdvancePay account to create activity
  • Transfer funds (if that’s an available option for your account) to create activity
  • Add a small deposit to the account so it shows use and resets the inactivity counter

Practical

  • Confirm ViaPath has your current email/phone number on file and opt in to text/email reminders so you can get the scheduled-expiration alert (sent no later than 30 days before expiration)
  • Don’t wait for the last minute: use the account once to reset the inactivity counter and restart the 180-day clock
  • If you don’t plan to use the account anymore, call customer service at 877-650-4249 and request a refund for the inactive AdvancePay account
  • Keep the rule in mind: after 180 consecutive days of inactivity, the account is subject to forfeiture unless a different period applies under governing law or contract

Tip: Set your own calendar reminder - don't rely solely on ViaPath's texts or emails. And if you're planning to reset the inactivity clock, do it a few days early rather than waiting until the last minute.
