Matagorda County's public access website lets you search for case records online. This guide walks you through finding a case, confirming you've got the right person, and opening case information and documents - no guesswork required. Never used the portal? The screens are straightforward once you know which search area to pick.
The search menu shows two main areas: Probate Case Records and Court Calendar. Choose Probate Case Records when you want to look up a case record itself. Choose Court Calendar when you need scheduling information - helpful if you're checking for upcoming settings tied to a person, attorney, or specific case.
Inside Probate Case Records, the
On the Court Calendar screen, your "Search By" options are Attorney, Case, Judicial Officer, and Party/Defendant Name. Pick "Party/Defendant Name" to find calendar entries for a specific person. Use "Case" for a particular case number, "Attorney" to follow a lawyer's schedule, or "Judicial Officer" to filter by the assigned judge.
After picking your search area, select the "Search By" option that matches what you know - case number, person's name, attorney, or judicial officer (calendar side only). The search fields change based on your selection, so the screen will look different when you switch options. Enter your information and run the search.
Your search results will appear in a list. Click the case number hyperlink on the left side to open the case details. That link is your entry point - if you just need to confirm you've found the right case, start there.
Viewing case details and opening documents are two separate steps. The case-number link in Search Results (on the left) shows you case information. To view actual documents, go to the Register of Actions screen and click the case number hyperlink at the top - that's the link that opens documents tied to the case.
