How to Search When You’re Not Sure of the Spelling (Using Soundex) — Matagorda County
Not sure how a name is spelled? Soundex can help. This search tool finds names that sound similar to what you typed - so even if the spelling in Matagorda County's records doesn't match exactly, you'll still get results.
First, make sure you're using the right search type. On the Probate Case Records screen, you can search by Case, Party, or Attorney. The fields change depending on which option you pick.
- Check “Use Soundex” - when you’re entering your search parameters, select the “Use Soundex” checkbox to turn the feature on for that search.
One catch: you can't combine Soundex with every search feature. In Matagorda County's portal, Wildcard and Soundex don't work together - pick one or the other for each search.
