Before Your First Visit: A Complete Checklist for Maury County Jail

Bring a valid form of identification with you - visitor ID is required at Maury County Jail. When you arrive, you’ll need to sign in and tell staff who you’re there to visit, so have the inmate’s name ready. After your visit ends, you also have to sign out before you leave.

Plan your outfit around the jail's dress code. Pants work, and so do knee-length shorts, skirts, or dresses. Skip short shorts, cut-offs, spandex, tank tops, halter tops, and anything with holes. Tops that expose cleavage aren't allowed either. Wear the wrong thing, and you'll be turned away.

Banned Items

  • Large coats
  • Baby strollers
  • Car seats
  • Food
  • Bags or purses of any kind
  • Tobacco products
  • Lighters
  • Weapons (including pocket knives)
  • Leave larger items in your vehicle if possible

Keep your group small - Maury County Jail allows a maximum of 4 visitors per inmate at a time. Visits are capped at one hour, so arrive ready to check in and make the most of your time.

Bringing kids? Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an approved adult visitor - this includes the inmate's own children.

Note: You can be denied a visit if you refuse to register, refuse a search, or break the rules. When staff conduct a search based on probable cause, they're required to document the reasons and results.
