How to Send Mail to an Inmate at Maury County Jail (Now Scanned to Electronic Mail)
Mail at Maury County Jail works differently than you might expect. Since February 1, 2021, most incoming paper mail is scanned and delivered to inmates electronically. Knowing how the process works will help you avoid surprises.
As of February 1, 2021, Maury County Jail no longer delivers paper mail directly to inmates. Instead, approved incoming mail, greeting cards, and photos are scanned and sent to the inmate's electronic mail account. So even if your letter is accepted, your loved one won't receive a physical copy. They'll see a digital version.
You still send mail through the United States Postal Service, just like you normally would. Inmates at Maury County Jail can both send and receive mail through USPS. The scanning process happens on the jail's end after your letter arrives.

- ✓ Write a legible sender name in the upper left-hand corner and include the jail’s address: 1300 Lawson White Drive, Columbia, TN 38401.
- ✓ Make sure the envelope has a complete return address. Outgoing mail without a complete return address will be rejected.
- ✓ Leave outgoing mail unsealed and clearly identify it with the sender’s name.
Legal mail is handled differently. If your envelope is clearly marked as "legal mail," staff will open it in front of the inmate it's addressed to, screen it for contraband, and hand it over directly. It won't go through the scanning process.
If your loved one uses the jail's electronic mail system to send messages out, each outgoing email costs $0.50.
- ✓ Eight stamped envelopes

Warning: Introducing contraband into the facility through the mail, or by any other means, is a felony. Suspected activity will be investigated for criminal prosecution.
