Before scheduling anything, confirm you're on the incarcerated person's approved visitor list. Creating a JPay account doesn't make you eligible for video visits. Visitor approval comes first.

Even after you're approved as a visitor, the facility still needs to confirm each video visit before it can happen. When you schedule through JPay, you'll pick a specific day, so plan ahead and give yourself time for that approval step.

Create Jpay Account

  • Create a JPay.com account.
  • Put a Visa or MasterCard on file in your JPay account (you need a card on file to purchase a video visitation session).
  1. Log into your JPay account - Make sure you are signed in before trying to use Video Visitation.
  2. Open Video Visitation - From the JPay navigation menu, click Video Visitation.
  3. Start a new request - Click Schedule New Visit.
  4. Read and accept the Terms of Use - Use the Video Visitation Terms of Use link, then click Continue when you are finished.
  5. Choose your date - In the Choose Date box, select the day you want, then click Continue.
  6. Finish the on-screen scheduling steps - Follow the prompts to complete the request.
  7. Select your payment card - Choose the card you want to use, then enter the card validation code when prompted.
  8. Confirm your purchase - Submit the payment to finalize the scheduled session.

Heads up: Video visits are sold in 30-minute sessions. If you quit the call early, you are still charged for the full 30 minutes.

Technical Requirements

  • High-speed internet access.
  • A PC with speakers, a microphone, and a webcam.
  • Ability to allow camera and microphone access when prompted during the session.

On the day of your visit, both you and the incarcerated person need to join at the scheduled time through JPay. When you connect, a pop-up will ask permission to use your webcam and microphone. Click Allow so the visit can begin.

Warning: Recording or photographing any part of a video visit (even attempting to) is a violation. The visit can be terminated and you can be banned from video visiting, including bans up to one year or an indefinite ban.

Bans lasting one year or longer aren't necessarily permanent. The facility visiting committee reviews these sanctions annually if the incarcerated person requests a review.

If your plans change, log into JPay, go to Video Visitation, and look for the option to edit or delete your scheduled visit before the appointment time. If you're having trouble scheduling or the visit won't start, double-check the date you selected and walk through the on-screen steps again to make sure everything was submitted correctly.
