How to stop unwanted contact: requesting a No Contact Directive from MN DOC

If you don't want contact from someone incarcerated in a Minnesota correctional facility, you can request a No Contact Directive from the Minnesota DOC. This isn't a court order - it's a direct way to tell DOC you don't want to receive contact from that person.

How Submit

  • Submit your No Contact Directive request by mail, fax, or email.
  • Fax the completed form to 612-473-5007.
  • Email the completed form to victimassistance.doc@state.mn.us.

If you prefer to mail your request, send the completed form to: Minnesota Department of Corrections, Victim Services & Restorative Justice Unit, 1450 Energy Park Drive, Suite 200, Saint Paul, MN 55108.

After you submit your request, the Minnesota Department of Corrections should acknowledge receipt within 10 business days. No acknowledgement after that? Follow up using the same submission channels.

Tip: Keep a copy of what you submitted and note the date. Having your records makes tracking that 10-business-day window much easier if you need to follow up.
