How to Contact an Inmate at Mclennan County Jail (TX)

McLennan County Jail changed how personal mail is delivered. Effective November 1, 2022, all personal mail is delivered digitally to the incarcerated person through the GettingOut tablet.

Here's the thing: even though your loved one receives the mail electronically, you still send a physical letter through the postal service. After November 1, 2022, mail goes to PO Box 247, Phoenix, MD 21131. On the outside of the envelope, clearly include the complete facility name, the incarcerated person's full name, and their inmate identifier. You also need to include your own information. Put your full name and physical address on the envelope so the mail can be processed for digital delivery.

Note: The jail only accepts personal mail, meaning letters, pictures, and drawings.

Steps to Follow

  • Write only personal mail (letters, pictures, drawings).
  • Address the envelope with the complete facility name, the inmate’s full name, and the inmate identifier.
  • Include the sender’s full name and physical address.
  • Mail it to: PO Box 247, Phoenix, MD 21131.
  • Expect the mail to be delivered digitally to the inmate via the GettingOut tablet (effective November 1, 2022).

Before you send anything, confirm a few details. Make sure the digital delivery policy (effective November 1, 2022) is still the current process and that PO Box 247, Phoenix, MD 21131 is still the correct mailing address. Also check what format the jail expects for the inmate identifier, since that identifier is required for delivery.

Reminder: Even with "personal mail," ask about item-specific limits (for example, what kinds of photos or drawings are allowed) so your mail doesn't get rejected.
