What You Can—and Absolutely Cannot—Bring to McNaughton Visiting Hours
  1. Park, then go straight to the Control Center to register - Start in the Visitors Parking Area, then proceed to the Control Center to complete registration before you enter the visiting center.
  2. Stay out of your vehicle after you register - Once you’re registered, you’re not allowed to return to your vehicle unless a sergeant authorizes it.

The default rule at McNaughton is straightforward: don't bring personal property into the visiting center. Cell phones, pagers, PDAs, cameras, and other electronics are all prohibited. The only exceptions? Baby supplies (more on that below) and up to $25 per person for the vending machines.

Note: A sergeant must inspect anything you bring into the Center, and staff have discretion over what’s allowed in on visit day.

What You Can—and Absolutely Cannot—Bring to McNaughton Visiting Hours

Visiting with a child? Leave your usual bags behind - purses and diaper bags aren't allowed in the visiting center. Pack light and assume anything extra stays in the car. Keep in mind: once you've registered, you can't return to your vehicle without authorization.

  • Diapers - carry them in a paper or plastic bag
  • Individual wipes - carry them in a paper or plastic bag
  • Plastic baby bottles - carry them in a paper or plastic bag

Want snacks or drinks during your visit? You'll need to use the vending machines. Each person can bring up to $25 for vending - one of the few personal-property exceptions allowed.

Outside food and beverages aren't allowed. Whatever you buy from the vending machines needs to be finished before your visit ends, so plan accordingly.

Blankets aren't allowed in the visiting center - the only exception is a small blanket for a baby. Worried about the picnic table benches? Ask staff for a towel instead of bringing your own.

Warning: Introducing contraband or delivering items to an inmate is taken seriously - McNaughton will refer these cases to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Department for prosecution.

Not sure about a specific item? Assume it'll be questioned at the door. A sergeant inspects everything brought into the Center, and staff have final say on what comes in. Follow their directives.
