How to Send Personal Mail to Someone at Medina County Jail (Digital Mail Center Guide)
Medina County Jail changed how personal mail works starting July 15, 2024. Here's how to send mail now, what gets scanned, and what happens after it's processed.
As of July 15, 2024, Medina County Jail no longer accepts personal mail directly at the facility. All personal mail now goes to the Securus Digital Mail Center, where it's processed through their digital mail system.
All personal mail routes through the Securus Digital Mail Center. When your mail meets Medina County's requirements, it gets digitally scanned and made available to the incarcerated person through the eMessaging or DMC applications on tablets and/or kiosks. Pay close attention to how you address the envelope. If it's not formatted correctly for the Securus Digital Mail Center, your mail could be returned or delayed. That's especially frustrating when you're trying to get something there quickly.
Note: Scanned mail is viewed digitally through the eMessaging or DMC applications on tablets and/or kiosks. The original paper letter is not handed over.
What Gets Scanned Limits
- ✓ Letters and other paper mail that meets Medina County requirements
- ✓ Pictures and drawings (accepted for scanning if they meet the requirements)
- ✓ Paper items must be no larger than 8.5 x 11 inches
- ✓ Non-paper items are not accepted for scanning
The Digital Mail Center only scans mail that meets Medina County's specific requirements. Even if something seems like it should go through, anything that doesn't comply won't be processed or delivered through eMessaging/DMC.
Once your mail is scanned and uploaded, the physical copy isn't kept forever. All paper mail is discarded 90 days after scanning.
Don't send packages, certified mail, checks, or money orders to the Digital Mail Center. None of these are accepted, and they'll be returned to you.
If you've used JPay Email before, that platform has been migrated to eMessaging under Securus Technologies. The name changed, but the function is similar. Scanned personal mail for Medina County Jail is also viewed through Securus, using the eMessaging or DMC applications on tablets and/or kiosks.
Verify Before Send Checklist
- ✓ Double-check you are using the correct Securus Digital Mail Center address and formatting before you mail it (bad addressing can mean return or delay)
- ✓ Keep everything paper-based and no larger than 8.5 x 11 inches
- ✓ Do not include non-paper items
- ✓ Do not send packages, certified mail, checks, or money orders (they will be returned)
- ✓ Plan for the original physical mail to be discarded 90 days after it is scanned and uploaded
Reminder: As of 7/15/2024, do not send personal mail directly to Medina County Jail. Send it to the Securus Digital Mail Center instead.
