Is Remote Securus Video Visitation Available at Memorial Unit? (What the TDCJ List Shows)

TDCJ's remote Securus Video Visitation program lets you join a paid, scheduled video visit from home through Securus - at participating units. Each remote visit runs 60 minutes and costs $10. Inmates can only have one remote video visit per month. Visits start and end at fixed times, so plan to be ready when your window opens.

Memorial Unit doesn't appear on TDCJ's published list of facilities offering remote video visitation through Securus. If a unit isn't on that list, the remote Securus video visit option typically isn't available there.

Here's where people get confused: TDCJ's online visitation scheduler lists "Video/Tablet" visits separately from the remote Securus video program. The scheduler guide says it plainly: "Video/Tablet (this is NOT the same as the Securus Video program currently being offered at limited units)." Seeing a Video/Tablet option in the scheduler - or hearing that someone does video visits another way - doesn't mean Memorial Unit offers remote Securus visits. Video/Tablet availability depends on factors like your relationship to the inmate, the facility's setup, and the inmate's visitation privileges.

  1. Check what you’re trying to use - If you’re looking for a remote Securus visit, compare Memorial Unit against TDCJ’s published list of units that offer remote Securus video visitation.
  2. Use the ITS Contact Form if something isn’t working - TDCJ directs complaints about vendor services (including Securus Video Visitation and other inmate technology services) through the ITS Contact Form.
  3. Send a written complaint if you need a paper trail - Address it to the Inmate Technology Services Contract Manager at PO Box 4016, Huntsville, TX 77342-4016.
  4. Email ITS for vendor-service issues - You can also email offenderphones@tdcj.texas.gov.
  5. Look at other ways to stay connected - If remote Securus visits aren’t available for Memorial, check whether Video/Tablet visits are available through the TDCJ scheduler, and consider scheduling an in-person visit if that’s an option for you.

Note: "Video/Tablet" visits in the TDCJ scheduler aren't the same as the limited-unit remote Securus Video program. You may see one option available even when the other isn't.
