Dress Code & What You Can (and Can't) Bring to Visits at Mercer County

Mercer County has a strict dress code, and staff will turn you away if you're wearing anything on the banned list. Leave these at home: orange clothing, sleeveless shirts, spandex, short shorts, mini-skirts, sheer fabrics, low-cut blouses, pajama pants, sweaters, coats, jackets, hats, and scarves.

Reminder: Wearing any prohibited clothing is enough to be refused entry to the visiting area.

Travel light. Handbags, paper or plastic bags, baby chairs, and children's toys aren't allowed inside. Leave them in the car or at home - you won't get past check-in with them.

  • Leave handbags at home or secured elsewhere before entering the visiting area
  • Don’t bring paper or plastic bags inside
  • Skip baby chairs - make other arrangements before you arrive
  • Leave children’s toys behind (bring only what you’re allowed to carry in)

Hungry or thirsty? Vending machines are available in the visiting area. Just know that smoking isn't allowed in the lobby or visiting areas, so plan ahead.
