Start by creating your account on the TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler login page. You'll receive a 7-digit validation code by email—note that your account email can't be changed or deleted later. Complete your visitor profile by answering every Background Questionnaire item and entering your phone number in XXX XXX XXXX format (with spaces). Staying in touch with someone at Middleton Unit takes some initial setup. To receive phone calls, register your telephone number at texasprisonphone.com and provide the inmate's TDCJ ID. Don't have the ID? Look it up through the offender search. For visits, the unit offers Regular, Contact, and Video/Tablet formats—exact availability depends on facility requirements. First-time visitors need to create an online visitation-scheduler account with a valid email, then complete email validation using the 7-digit code and link you'll receive. Phone, video, messaging, and tablet services run through the agency's inmate-technology vendors and their portals.

Middleton Unit uses TDCJ's centralized Digital Mail Processing Center (effective Sept 6, 2023). Most personal mail goes to the processing center, where it's screened and scanned to the inmate's secure tablet. Address it to: Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Inmate's Full First and Last Name + TDCJ Number, PO Box 660400, Dallas, TX 75266-0400. Some items skip the scanning center—legal/privileged mail, media mail, and books, magazines, or packages from verified senders or publishers go directly to Middleton Unit under TDCJ policy. Fund an inmate's trust account at Middleton Unit with money orders or cashier's checks, ACH (a monthly checking account debit), or approved vendor services: Access Corrections (ACE), eCommDirect (Texas.gov), JPay, and TouchPay. Since September 1, 2020, only people on the inmate's approved visitor list or Inmate Telephone List can make deposits. Don't send cash or personal checks—they'll be returned. Single deposits of $500 or more, plus certain checks (insurance, company, payroll, or estate), are held for 14 days before the inmate can use the funds. Don't mail deposits to the facility address or include personal mail with deposits. Trust Fund staff can confirm receipt, but account balances go only to the inmate, who gets monthly transaction statements.
