How to Schedule a Visit Online at Middleton Unit (TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler)

To use the TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler, you have to create your own visitor account. TDCJ staff can’t create a visitor account for you, even if you’re having trouble getting started. If you’re trying to schedule for Middleton Unit, plan on doing the signup yourself from the beginning.

Once your account exists, staff can help with certain updates to your information - like correcting names or addresses. That help comes after you’ve created the account, not as a substitute for the initial registration.

When you create a new account, you’ll submit your email address first. The system then sends you an email with a 7-digit validation code and a link - use both to finish registering your account. If you skip that validation step, you can get stuck before you ever reach scheduling.

If you already made an account but can’t sign in, use the Forgot Password/Reset Password option. Enter the email address tied to your scheduler account, click the reset link, and follow the steps that are emailed to you to set a new password.

Profile Formats

  • Enter your phone number as XXX XXX XXXX (use spaces - no dashes)
  • Enter the inmate’s TDCJ or SID number as exactly 8 digits

If you don’t know the 8-digit TDCJ/SID number, use the TDCJ Offender Search page to look it up. Getting that number right matters, because you’ll need it to add your loved one to your profile and move forward with a visit request.

  1. Open the inmate search - In the scheduler, choose the option to Search Inmate.
  2. Enter the TDCJ or SID number (8 digits) - The system requires an 8-digit number.
  3. Choose your relationship - Use the relationship dropdown to select how the inmate is related to you.
  4. Request approval - Click Request Approval to submit your relationship request.

After you submit the request, it doesn’t turn into a visit automatically. Your relationship request sits in a pending status while unit staff reviews and approves it.

On your home page, you’ll see two different areas that tell you where you are in the process. While you’re waiting, the person you requested will show under Relation Requests Pending Approval. Once staff confirms the relationship, it moves to Verified Inmate Relations. That’s the point where you may be able to schedule - look for a Schedule Visit button next to their name.

Note: If your relationship is confirmed but the inmate’s visitation privileges have been removed, the scheduler will show “Not Approved for Visits” instead of a Schedule Visit button.

Quick Checklist

  • Confirm your phone number is typed as XXX XXX XXXX (spaces, no dashes)
  • Double-check the inmate’s TDCJ/SID number is 8 digits
  • Finish registration by using the email link and 7-digit validation code

If the Schedule Visit button is missing, blank, or replaced with “Call Unit,” don’t assume you did something wrong. First, check whether your request is still sitting under Relation Requests Pending Approval - if it is, you’re waiting on staff approval. If your relationship is already under Verified Inmate Relations but the button is blank or says Call Unit, you’ll need to contact the inmate’s unit of assignment to schedule a visit or confirm what’s needed next.

Note: Even with a verified relationship, you may see “Not Approved for Visits” if visitation privileges have been removed. Calling the unit can help you confirm whether visits are allowed.
