Before Your First Visit to Midland County Jail: Visitor checklist and what you can't bring

Visits at Midland County Jail are video-only - no contact visits allowed. That changes what you need to prepare. You won't be passing items to your loved one, and you can't bring personal belongings or take photos in the visitation area. The goal: arrive ready to check in, follow the rules, and spend your time actually visiting instead of sorting out problems at the door.

Bring proper identification that clearly proves who you are. Midland County puts the burden on you to show valid ID. If your name, photo, or any details might raise questions - or if you're unsure what counts as "proper" for your situation - confirm ahead of time. Don't lose your visit because of an ID issue you could have resolved with a phone call.

Not to Bring

Dress conservatively. If there's any disagreement about whether your clothing meets the standard, the shift supervisor has final say. Keep it simple - nothing revealing, nothing with offensive graphics. A last-minute dispute over your outfit can derail your entire visit.

Visiting hours run Saturday through Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Give yourself time to check in and get settled - don't cut it close to the end of the window.

  1. Plan around the two-visitor limit - Inmates are allowed a maximum of two visitors per visiting day.
  2. Expect at least 20 minutes - Visits are a minimum of twenty (20) minutes per visitor.
  3. Don’t try to visit twice in one day - A visitor may visit only once per visitation day.
  4. Keep the weekly cap in mind - Each inmate is limited to four total visits per week.
  5. Space visits out - Visits must be on non-consecutive days.

Questions about your ID or a special concern? Call the Detention Division before you go. Since you're responsible for proving your identity, a quick phone call can save you a wasted trip.
