Visiting Days at Midland County Jail: Why visits only run Saturday–Tuesday and how to plan around the gap
Midland County Jail packs visitation into a four-day window each week. Once you get the Saturday–Tuesday schedule down (and the rules layered on top), planning a visit gets much easier—even with that Wednesday–Friday gap.
Visiting hours run Saturday through Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. All visits are video visits during those scheduled times. Planning a mid-week visit? You can't - Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are off. Aim for one of the four open days instead.
Children visiting: Children (under 17) can visit during the first full visitation week of each month (the first Saturday–Tuesday), and only one child may visit at a time. That child visit counts toward the inmate’s two-visitor limit for that day.
Even on open visitation days, each eligible inmate can have a maximum of two visitors per day. More than two people hoping to visit? You'll need to split them across different days - stacking everyone into the same day won't work under the two-visitor cap.
There are limits on how often visits can happen too. Each visitor can visit only once per day, and visits must be on non-consecutive days. Inmates are also capped at four total visits per week. This matters because the visiting window is only Saturday–Tuesday. Since visits can't be back-to-back, you can't do Saturday and Sunday, or Monday and Tuesday. The spacing pushes you toward alternating days - Saturday and Monday, or Sunday and Tuesday. And with the four-visit weekly cap, you can only fit so much into one Saturday–Tuesday window. If multiple people want time, you'll often be planning across more than one week.
Each visit runs a minimum of twenty (20) minutes per visitor. That minimum helps you estimate how long you'll be committed on a visit day - and it's one more reason to plan around a specific slot rather than assuming you can squeeze a visit in whenever.
Planning Tips Farther Away
- ✓ Pick which of the four open days (Saturday–Tuesday) you’re aiming for, and build your travel around that window.
- ✓ Keep it to two visitors per inmate per visiting day - if more people want to visit, split them across different days.
- ✓ Don’t schedule back-to-back days for the same visitor; visits must be on non-consecutive days.
- ✓ Track the inmate’s weekly total so you don’t exceed four visits in a week.
- ✓ Budget time around the minimum 20-minute visit length per visitor when you’re coordinating rides, childcare, or time off work.
- Call before you travel - Confirm the current visitation schedule and any temporary changes directly with the Midland County Detention Division before you make the drive.
Trying to arrange a visit outside the Saturday–Tuesday window? The rules are different for attorneys. Attorneys of record can visit inmates in private between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., seven days a week. The exceptions: when the jail floor is closed for security, feeding, or during regular visitation hours.
