What You Can't Bring to Midland County Jail Visits — Visitor Checklist

S1

  • Purses
  • Backpacks
  • Cell phones
  • Other personal items

No photos in the visitation area - not even a quick one. Midland County Jail prohibits all photography during visits, and trying to sneak a picture can end your visit early.

Dress conservatively. If you're on the fence about whether something will pass, choose the safer option. Simple, neat clothing is your best bet for getting through check-in without issues.

Note: If you disagree with an employee’s decision about your clothing, the shift supervisor makes the final call.

Bringing kids? They need to stay with you the entire time. Midland County Jail doesn't allow children to be left unattended in the lobby or outside while adults visit.

  1. Pack light on purpose - don’t bring a purse, backpack, cell phone, or extra personal items you won’t be allowed to take into the visitation area.
  2. Secure anything you accidentally brought - if you showed up with a banned item, return it to your car before you try to check in.
  3. Hand it off to a non-visiting companion - if someone came with you but isn’t visiting, ask them to hold your items outside the visitation process.
  4. Ask before you carry it in - if you’re not sure whether something counts as a “personal item,” check with staff before you enter the visitation area.

Reminder: Not sure about an item or your outfit? Sort it out before you get in line. Once you're at the front, fixing a problem could mean losing your spot - or missing your visit entirely.
