Sending a Food Package to Mitchell County Jail: How to Order via Union Supply, Fees, and Limits

Union Supply handles food packages for people housed in Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) State Prisons, Integrated Treatment Facilities, and Probation Detention Centers. If your loved one is at one of these GDC facility types, you can send them approved food items by placing an order through Union Supply.

Note: Some facilities don’t use Union Supply. For example, Riverbend Private Prison in Georgia continues to use the Access Securepak package program until further notice.

Ordering Channels

  • Order by mail: Union Supply, 2500 Regent Blvd Dept. 421, P.O. Box 619059, Dallas, TX 75261-9059
  • Order by phone: 1-562-361-5719
  • Order by toll-free phone: 1-855-247-0563
  • Order by fax: 1-310-603-1188

You can place a Union Supply order by mail, phone (there's a toll-free line), or fax. Not sure if your loved one's facility uses Union Supply? Confirm the package program first - some facilities use different vendors, and you don't want your order going to the wrong place.

Every Union Supply order includes a $2.95 shipping and handling charge. This fee is non-refundable.

GDC sets firm limits on package size, and Union Supply enforces them based on facility type. For State Prisons and Integrated Treatment Facilities, the cap is $100 per offender or 15 lbs. per package - whichever you hit first. Probation Detention Centers have a lower limit: $50 per offender or 7 lbs. per package. Here's something that catches people off guard: if you place multiple orders, they may be combined into one package. That consolidated shipment still can't exceed the limit for the facility type. Plan your order with both the dollar and weight caps in mind before you submit.

Heads up: Multiple orders may be combined into one package, and the total still can't exceed the $/weight limit for that facility type.

  1. Confirm the package vendor for the facility - Union Supply is used for GDC State Prisons, Integrated Treatment Facilities, and Probation Detention Centers, but some facilities use a different program (Riverbend Private Prison, for example, uses Access Securepak until further notice).
  2. Pick an ordering method you can complete cleanly - If you want a paper trail, mail may be easiest; if you need speed, phone can be faster; fax works if you already have the order paperwork ready to send. Use the Union Supply mail/phone/fax options provided.
  3. Stay within the package limits from the start - For State Prisons and ITFs, keep it at or under $100 or 15 lbs. (whichever comes first). For Probation Detention Centers, keep it at or under $50 or 7 lbs. (whichever comes first).
  4. Don’t try to “split” orders to get around the caps - Multiple orders can be consolidated into one package, and the consolidated package still can’t exceed the limit.
  5. Use the Union Supply contact channels if something goes wrong - If you need to place, change, or troubleshoot an order, use the same official ordering channels (mail, phone, toll-free phone, or fax) so your request is tied to the correct program.
