How to Schedule a Free Video Visit at Mobile County Metro Jail (Using GettingOut)
Video visits at Mobile County Metro Jail run through GettingOut/Telmate. Once you're registered and know the booking window, it's just a matter of picking an available slot and confirming.
Every visit at Metro Jail must be registered and scheduled through the GettingOut/Telmate portal (mobilecountyal.gtlvisitme.com). Show up without scheduling first and you won't be on the calendar. Start by creating an account and registering your visit there.
Metro Jail has a firm booking window: at least 1 day in advance, but no more than 7 days out. That means you'll typically see openings from tomorrow through about a week ahead. Don't see a time that works? Check back as new days become available.
Onsite video visits at Metro Jail are free. "Onsite" means you're physically at the jail using their video equipment - not visiting from home - but you still schedule through the same GettingOut/Telmate system.
Here's something that catches people off guard: GettingOut treats free visits as an inmate benefit credited to the inmate's account. That means only the inmate can book a free visit. If you want to use a free onsite visit, coordinate with the person you're visiting so they can schedule it from their end.

Note: Free visits are inmate-controlled in GettingOut - only the inmate can book one. For a free onsite visit, you'll need them to schedule it.
