How to Visit Facility

MCC directs visitors to DOC Policy 450.300 for the general visitation rules that apply statewide. The facility also publishes its own Visitor's Guidelines and Regular Visiting Hours for each housing unit. If you want to make sure you're following the rules, start with those two sources: the DOC policy and MCC's facility-specific guidelines and hours.

MCC offers both in-person and video visits. Either way, you'll need to go through the visitor application process and be approved before you can visit. For video visits, scheduling is handled through Securus. You need to book at least 24 hours in advance. Visits are set in 30-minute increments, and the total visit time can't exceed one hour.

MCC limits how many people can visit at once. Each incarcerated individual may have up to seven approved visitors per visit. In the visiting area, you may carry one form of ID. If you drove, you can keep one car key and/or remote on a single ring, but staff will secure it at check-in. Need prescription medication or medical equipment during the visit? MCC allows it as long as you can show proof of prescription or medically authorized need. Medication must be in the original container showing your name and prescription details, and it may be stored in lockers at check-in.

Steps to Follow

  • Complete the visitor application process (required for both in-person visits and video visits).
  • Read MCC’s Visitor’s Guidelines and DOC Policy 450.300 so you know the baseline rules that apply to your visit.
  1. Get approved first: Video visits can be scheduled by an approved visitor.
  2. Schedule through Securus at least 24 hours ahead: Same-day scheduling is not the expectation.
  3. Pick your time in 30-minute blocks: Visits are scheduled in 30-minute increments, and the total duration may not exceed one hour.
  • Bring only one form of ID into the visiting area (visitors may be allowed to have one form of ID with them).
  • If you drive, bring one car key and/or remote on a single ring key chain (it will be secured at visit check-in).
  • If you need medication or medical equipment during the visit, bring proof of prescription or medically authorized need.
  • Keep prescription medication in the original container showing your name and prescription details.
  • Be ready to store medications in lockers at visit check-in if asked.

How to Visit Facility

Before making plans, confirm you're looking at the current version of MCC's Visitor's Guidelines and Regular Visiting Hours. DOC Policy 450.300 covers statewide visit rules, so it's also worth checking if you have a question that MCC's quick guidance doesn't answer.

Planning a video visit? Double-check the scheduling process in Securus before committing to a day and time. The standing rule at MCC is that approved visitors schedule at least 24 hours in advance. Visits are set in 30-minute increments with a maximum total duration of one hour.

Make sure your visitor application is completed and approved before you try to visit, whether in person or by video. If you're coordinating with other family members, confirm how the seven-approved-visitor limit works for your loved one's visit.

Not sure what you can bring into the visiting area? Verify the current rules on ID and keys before you arrive. The same goes for medications and medical equipment: bring prescription items in the original container with your name and prescription details, and confirm what needs to be stored in lockers at check-in.
