How to Set Up Your TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler Account (Step‑by‑Step)
The TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler isn’t available everywhere. Use of the system is restricted to residents of the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
You'll need to set up the account yourself - TDCJ staff can't do it for you. If you're helping a family member who isn't comfortable online, you can guide them through each step, but the account must be created through the visitor portal.
Enter the email address you want to use and submit it. The system sends you an email with a 7-digit validation code and a link. Click that link to return to the scheduler and finish registration. Keep the email handy - you'll need that code to move forward.
Next up: the Background Questionnaire. Every question must be answered before you can continue. Leave one blank, and your registration stalls. Take your time, complete each item, then submit.
Once you're logged in, add the person you want to visit by searching their TDCJ number or SID number. The number must be exactly 8 digits - too few or too many, and the search won't find them.
Stuck here? Go back and double-check your Background Questionnaire. Missing answers can block you from moving forward.
Seeing "Pending Approval" or can't schedule yet? Check your account setup first. The scheduler won't let you continue unless every Background Questionnaire question is answered - even one skipped item can hold things up.
Note: If the scheduler won’t let you pick a time and you see a “Call Unit” prompt instead, follow that direction - your visit may need to be scheduled by phone through the unit.
