MCCF dress code: what you can and can't wear to visits
MCCF will turn you away at the door if your outfit doesn't meet the dress code. Use the quick list below to pick something that won't cause problems at check-in.
MCCF's visitor handbook is strict: suggestive, revealing, or otherwise inappropriate clothing isn't allowed. The rules exist to keep visits orderly and avoid security or decency issues during check-in. Not sure about something? Dress conservatively. It's not worth losing your visit over a clothing choice.
- ✓ Halter tops, half shirts, and tube tops
- ✓ See-through (transparent) clothing or spaghetti-strap garments
- ✓ Skirts, pants, or shorts with hems above mid-thigh
- ✓ Tight-fitting clothing that reveals body contour
- ✓ Clothing that exposes the midriff area
- ✓ Shirts that expose significant portions of the torso or shoulders
- ✓ Extremely low-cut shirts of any type
Note: Dress code is enforced at entry. If your outfit doesn’t meet the standard, you can be denied a visit.
MCCF also prohibits clothing that conceals - or partially conceals - your identity. Anything that makes it harder for staff to confirm who you are during check-in can be a problem. Keep your face clearly visible when you arrive.
Tip: If something could interfere with an identity check, expect to remove it - or be turned away.
Every visitor entering MCCF gets screened for contraband - you and your belongings. Plan on a security process before you're allowed inside. You'll also need to pass temperature screening and security clearance.
MCCF uses a metal detector as part of screening. If you can't clear it - or fail any other screening requirement - staff can deny your visit. Even if you're on time and dressed appropriately, screening issues alone can end things before they start.
- Choose conservative clothing - Avoid anything revealing or suggestive so you don’t get stopped at the door.
- Skip identity-concealing items - Wear clothing that keeps your identity clear and unobstructed.
- Pack light - Your possessions will be screened for contraband, so only bring what you truly need.
- Make metal-detector clearance easy - Reduce anything that could keep you from clearing the metal detector.
- Be ready for temperature screening and security clearance - These happen before you’re allowed to enter.
- Have a backup plan - If you can’t clear screening requirements, MCCF can deny entry or the visit.
If you're turned away, ask the visiting desk to confirm the reason - especially if it was tied to screening or the metal detector - so you don't repeat the same mistake. You can also confirm visitation eligibility, dates, and times by calling the MCCF Visiting Desk at (240) 773-9701.
- ✓ Keep a more conservative backup outfit available (especially a higher-cut top and longer bottoms)
- ✓ Leave anything questionable in your vehicle and return with only what you need
- ✓ Remove items that may prevent you from clearing the metal detector and try again if staff allows
- ✓ Reschedule your visit if you’re denied entry due to screening or dress code enforcement
