Getting into MCCF means clearing two checkpoints: a temperature screening and security clearance. Security includes screening you and your belongings for contraband, plus passing through a metal detector. Think airport security, but stricter. If you can't clear the metal detector or fail any other screening requirement, staff can deny you entry.

Warning: If you can’t clear the metal detector or any other screening requirement, you can be denied entry or denied the visit.

Masks are required at all times inside - for visitors and inmates alike, regardless of vaccination status. Bring a standard mask; gaiter-type masks aren't allowed. The only exception: children age 2 and younger.

  • Use the wipes provided by Correctional Staff to clean your assigned visiting station.

Stay six feet away from other visiting groups throughout your visit. Follow the floor markings and listen to correctional staff - they'll direct you on where to stand, wait, and move.

Bring a valid photo ID for check-in. Not sure if yours will be accepted? Call the visiting desk ahead of time - better than making the trip and getting turned away at the door.

Need somewhere to store your stuff? MCCF has public lockers for visitors who don't have a car to leave things in. They're quarter-operated - insert a quarter, and you get it back when you're done. One thing to know: MCCF isn't responsible for items left in cars or lockers. Secure your belongings before heading into the visiting area.

If anything's unclear - your loved one's eligibility, the right visiting day, or the time slot - confirm before you go. Call the MCCF Visiting Desk at (240) 773-9701 or the MCDC Visiting Desk at (240) 777-9899. General hours at MCCF run 8:00am–11:00am, 1:30pm–4:00pm, and 6:00pm–8:30pm, with no visits on Wednesdays. On their assigned housing day, eligible inmates can receive one 30-minute onsite visit.
