Picking up property after release from Montgomery County Jail: locations, hours, and required forms

You may need to visit one of two places to retrieve property from a Montgomery County Jail stay. If the person was transferred from Montgomery County Jail to another facility and recently released, go to the property room window at the jail itself. For all other property releases, head to Property Management at the Sheriff's Headquarters Building.

Property Management is on the lower level of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Headquarters Building at 345 West Second Street, Dayton, Ohio 45422. Need to schedule an appointment or have questions? Call (937) 225-4145 before you go.

• ✓ Sheriff’s Office Property Room releases items Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–2:00 PM (unless you’ve made prior arrangements with property room staff)
• ✓ Property Management lists hours of 8:00 AM–4:00 PM (confirm before you go, since release timing is tied to the Property Room schedule)

Appointment ID Parking Rules

• ✓ Bring a valid photo ID - property won’t be released without it
• ✓ Plan ahead: property releases through Property Management at 345 W. 2nd Street are by appointment only

If bulk property was taken during incarceration, bring the MCSO Bulk Property Form. Without it, expect delays - or a wasted trip.

Firearms and other special items require an appointment - don't just show up hoping it works out. Call Property Management at 937-225-4145 for firearm release information or to schedule a pickup time.

The Sheriff's Office Property Room handles standard releases between 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday - unless you've made prior arrangements with staff. The Property Room closes on holidays, so plan around holiday weeks or call ahead if you're on a tight deadline.
