Before Your First Video Visit: Setting Up Your GettingOut Account

Montgomery Pretrial Detention Facility offers video visits only - no in-person option. Everything runs through GettingOut. Here's how it works: the inmate initiates the video call to you, but it only connects if you've already signed up. Don't wait until the last minute. Set up your GettingOut account and complete the ID verification step ahead of time. That way, you're ready when your loved one tries to reach you.

Heads up: Each inmate can only receive one visitor per week. Coordinate with other family members before booking your slot.

  1. Go to GettingOut and create your account - You’ll need your own login so the system can recognize you as an approved visitor.
  2. Upload your ID for verification - GettingOut requires an ID upload as part of the visitor verification process.
  3. Wait for approval before expecting a visit to come through - Once your account is approved, you’ll be eligible to receive inmate video visitation calls.

Tip: Check that your GettingOut account shows as approved. Until approval goes through, video visit calls from your inmate won't reach you.

All visits are scheduled through GettingOut, and you'll need to plan ahead - same-day scheduling isn't available. Book at least 24 hours in advance. Need more flexibility? You can schedule up to 14 days out, which helps if you're juggling childcare, work, or travel.

Reminder: Since each inmate can only have one visitor per week, double-check who's visiting before you lock in a time.
