Visit Room Rules at Mountain View: What’s Allowed and What Could End Your Visit
Knowing the contact rules, what you can bring, and what gets you turned away makes visiting Mountain View much smoother. Here's a plain-language rundown before you go.
Physical contact at Mountain View is limited. A brief hug or kiss at the start and end of your visit - that's it. No embraces in between.
Holding hands during the visit is fine. If you're unsure whether something crosses the line, stick to that. Staff enforce the rules in the room, and visits can be cut short if boundaries aren't respected.
Warning: Petting or sexual contact can be treated as a reason to end your visit.
Items Leave in Car
- ✓ Handbags
- ✓ Suitcases
- ✓ Briefcases
- ✓ Any other items not necessary during your visit (leave them locked in your automobile)
Bringing a diaper bag? You can't keep it with you during the visit. Leave it with the Visit Officer when you enter the room.
Leave cameras and cell phones behind. Photography is prohibited inside the facility and around the grounds - no pictures during your visit, and no quick snapshots outside either.
Staff won't admit you if they suspect you're carrying a weapon. If anything in your clothing or belongings could raise questions, leave it behind. Keep what you bring simple.
Showing up intoxicated or appearing to be under the influence of a controlled substance will get you turned away. If you've taken something that could be misunderstood - or you're just not feeling well - reschedule. It's safer than risking a denied visit.
Assume your conversation isn't private. Mountain View states that communications during visits may be listened to and recorded by facility law enforcement.
Note: Attorney/client privileged communications are excluded from being listened to or recorded.
