O'Daniel Unit uses the TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler, so you'll need to create your own visitor account—TDCJ staff can't do it for you. During setup, you'll receive a 7-digit validation code by email, and you must complete every question in the Background Questionnaire to finish registration. Forgot your password? Use the scheduler's Forgot/Reset Password email process. To add an inmate, enter their 8-digit TDCJ or SID number. Your request goes to the inmate's unit, where staff verify your relationship. Visit types include Regular, Contact, and Video/Tablet (separate from the Securus Video program). Visiting hours are Saturdays and Sundays, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and eligible inmates can receive one visit per weekend. Call the unit before you travel to confirm details.

Communication at O'Daniel Unit runs through the agency's Inmate Technology program and third-party vendors. Available services vary by unit. To receive phone calls, register your number through the vendor system using the inmate's TDCJ ID. The unit also offers Securus remote video visits—60 minutes each, $10.00, with a limit of one per month per inmate. Eligible inmates may access secure tablets loaded with educational, vocational, religious, and legal materials. Need phone support? Personal correspondence to ODaniel Unit goes through TDCJ's centralized digital mail processing. Address your envelope to the inmate's full name and TDCJ number, then mail it to PO Box 660400, Dallas, TX 75266-0400. The central processing vendor sorts and screens incoming mail—accepted pages are scanned and delivered electronically to the inmate's secure tablet or handled by facility staff. Legal mail, privileged mail, media mail, and publications sent directly by a publisher follow separate delivery paths and may skip the general scanning process. Don't send trust fund deposits or account payments to the unit; use the Inmate Trust Fund mailing instructions instead. Avoid prohibited items like cash, loose stamps, food, and personal property to prevent delays.

At O'Daniel Unit, only people on an inmate's Approved Visitation List or Inmate Telephone List can deposit money into that inmate's trust fund. For electronic deposits, use ECOMMDIRECT (texas.gov/eCommDirect) with Visa, MasterCard, or Discover—a service fee applies. Prefer to mail funds? Send a money order or cashier's check payable to "Inmate Trust Fund for Offender Name and Number" along with the deposit slip to Inmate Trust Fund, PO Box 60, Huntsville, TX 77342-0060. Don't mail deposits or personal mail directly to the unit—follow the centralized trust fund instructions instead. If someone you don't know asks you to send money, don't do it.
