How to Send Money to an Inmate at O'Daniel Unit (All accepted methods)
Sending money to someone at a TDCJ facility is straightforward once you know the rules. Here's what you need to know about deposit methods and who's allowed to send funds.
First, make sure you're actually allowed to send money. Since September 1, 2020, TDCJ only accepts deposits from people on the inmate's approved visitor list or Inmate Telephone List. Not on either list? Your deposit likely won't go through.
Warning: Don’t send money to inmates you don’t know, and don’t send money “as a favor” for someone else. If you suspect extortion, report it to the unit warden or the Office of the Inspector General.
The fastest option is eCommDirect on Texas.gov. Look up the offender by name or number, confirm you've got the right person, select your deposit amount, and pay with Visa, MasterCard, or Discover. There's a service fee, so your total at checkout will be higher than the deposit amount itself.
Prefer mail? Send a money order or cashier's check made payable exactly to: "Inmate Trust Fund for Offender Name and Number." Mail it to: Inmate Trust Fund, PO Box 60, Huntsville, TX 77342-0060.
- Fill out the money order or cashier’s check correctly - Make it payable to “Inmate Trust Fund for Offender Name and Number,” using the inmate’s name and number.
- Include a deposit slip - You can get deposit slips from the offender, or request one by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: Inmate Trust Fund, PO Box 60, Huntsville, TX 77342-0060.
- Mail the deposit to the Trust Fund PO Box (not the unit) - Don’t send trust fund deposits to the inmate’s facility of assignment; follow the Trust Fund mailing instructions instead. Also, don’t mail the inmate’s personal letters or other items to the Trust Fund address.
