Save These Photos & Messages Before Mule Creek Exchanges ViaPath Tablets (Checklist)

If your loved one is at Mule Creek State Prison, you need to save anything you want to keep before the tablet swap. Photos, e-messages, and other media purchased through ViaPath won't transfer to the new Securus tablets. Incarcerated people will turn in their ViaPath device and get a new one. Mule Creek's exchange window runs March 10–13, with the phone transition on March 9 - so handle any saving or refund requests before that week.

Here's the key point: ViaPath content doesn't come with you. Photos, e-messages, and other media you've purchased can't be moved to the new Securus tablets. If those items matter, treat this transition as a hard cutoff. Save what you can ahead of time.

Warning: Assume anything stored only in ViaPath won’t be available on the new Securus tablet unless you save a copy before the exchange.

During the transition, incarcerated people at Mule Creek won't keep their current ViaPath tablet. They'll turn in the ViaPath device and receive a new Securus tablet. The phone transition is March 9, followed by the tablet exchange March 10–13. Anything you want to save - or any balance you want refunded - needs to be handled before that window opens.

Timing: Mule Creek’s phone transition is listed for March 9, and the tablet exchange is scheduled for March 10–13.

Save These Photos & Messages Before Mule Creek Exchanges ViaPath Tablets (Checklist)
  1. List what you can’t replace - go through the ViaPath content you care about most (especially photos, e-messages, and any other purchased media) and write down what you need to keep.
  2. Save copies wherever ViaPath allows - if there’s a way to download or otherwise keep a copy of important items, do it before the transition.
  3. Document anything you can’t save - if an item can’t be downloaded or preserved, note what it is and where it sits in ViaPath so you’re not trying to remember later; it won’t transfer to Securus.
  4. Request a refund for unused ViaPath balances (families) - families can ask for refunds for unused balances through the ViaPath call center.
  5. Finish before the Mule Creek exchange - don’t wait until the week of the swap; complete saving and refund steps before the March 10–13 exchange window so you’re not racing the cutoff.
  • Identify the photos, e-messages, and other ViaPath-purchased media you don’t want to lose
  • Save copies of important items where ViaPath allows
  • Write down or document anything you can’t save (it won’t transfer to Securus)
  • Request a refund for any unused ViaPath balance through the ViaPath call center (families)
  • Complete saving/refund steps before Mule Creek’s March 10–13 tablet exchange (phone transition listed March 9)

Once the exchange happens, there's no way to recover lost content. Photos, e-messages, and other ViaPath media won't move to Securus. But you can still get money back: families can request refunds for unused ViaPath balances through the ViaPath call center.

Refund reminder: If you have unused ViaPath funds, request your refund through the ViaPath call center as soon as possible.
