Use the jail's

All incoming mail for Multnomah County inmates goes through Inverness Jail first - even if the person you're writing to is housed downtown at the Detention Center. Use the Inverness address regardless of where they're actually staying.

Mail gets delivered Monday through Friday only. If you're sending something late in the week or around a holiday, expect some extra processing time.

Include Return Materials

  • Include a clear return address on the outside of the envelope.
  • Use the booking first and last name and include the SWIS number to help it get to the right person.
  • Write with pencil or ballpoint pen (avoid anything that looks like it could smear, bleed through, or be treated as altered).
