Bringing Kids to Visit at Inverness Jail: documentation, supervision, and visitor limits

At Inverness Jail, an incarcerated person can have a maximum of three social visitors per visit - and children count toward that limit. So if you bring two kids and one adult, that’s already three visitors total. If your group is bigger than three, you’ll need to adjust who comes in for that visit.

Anyone under 18 can't visit alone. Inverness requires minors to be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian, or an approved adult. The one exception: if the minor is married to the inmate, they can visit independently with proof of marriage.

  • A copy of the child’s birth certificate
  • Adoption papers (if applicable)
  • Court orders showing child custody (if applicable)
  • Notarized permission from the child’s parent or legal guardian (if applicable)

During kiosk (lobby) video visits, minor children must stay supervised and under the parent's immediate control the entire session. This isn't a setting where kids can wander or switch seats - plan on hands-on supervision throughout. For kiosk visits, check in at the Facility Security Officer desk with a valid government-issued photo ID. Bringing a child? Have your relationship paperwork ready. Staff may ask for it as part of the minor visitation policy.

  • Count everyone carefully: Inverness allows a maximum of 3 social visitors per visit, and children count as visitors.
  • For in-person social visits, make sure everyone in your group is in the lobby and signed up at least 30 minutes before the visiting session you want.
  • For lobby kiosk video visits, arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled start time.
  • Bring your valid government-issued photo ID (and keep it accessible for check-in).
  • If you’re the adult bringing a minor, bring copies of the documents that prove your relationship/permission.
  • Keep kiosk groups to three people total - kiosk video visits are limited to 3 people.

Don't risk a wasted trip: For in-person visits, everyone must be in the lobby and signed up at least 30 minutes before the session starts. For kiosk visits, check in at the Facility Security Officer desk with a valid government-issued photo ID.
