How to Sign Up for a Visit at Multnomah County Inverness Jail

Visits at Inverness are first-come, first-served, and space fills up fast. Everyone in your group needs to be present to sign up, and you must do so at least 30 minutes before the session you want. Miss that cutoff and you could lose your spot - even if you're already in line.

Note: A visit can be denied or terminated for security reasons, and repeated rule violations can lead to longer denials. If that happens, you can request a review in writing through the MCSO Facility Security Unit Manager.

How to Sign Up for a Visit at Multnomah County Inverness Jail

Figure out your group before you head over. Inverness allows a maximum of three social visitors per visit - and kids count too. Show up with four people, and someone's sitting out.

  1. Get there with enough time to sign up - you must sign up at least 30 minutes before the visiting session you want.
  2. If you’re doing a lobby kiosk video visit, arrive even earlier - arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled kiosk visit and check in at the Facility Security Officer desk.

Step1 Service Request Form

  • Fill out a service request form for each person who is visiting before you approach the visiting window to sign up.

Once your service request forms are filled out, head to the window with everyone in your group. Every adult visitor needs a current, valid, government-issued photo ID - staff will check it before you can sign up.

Accepted photo ID examples: State driver’s license, state ID card, military ID card, or a passport.

Set realistic expectations: each in-person social visit maxes out at thirty minutes. Use the time well. Check-in and waiting often take longer than the visit itself.

The three-visitor limit applies during the visit too. Kids count, so tally everyone in your group toward that maximum.

Break the rules and the jail can end your visit on the spot. Repeat violations stack up: a 2nd violation can mean a one-week denial, a 3rd can mean two weeks, a 4th can mean three weeks, and a 5th gets referred to the Facility Security Unit Manager.

  1. Write a request for review - put your request in writing and clearly state that you’re asking for a review of a visitation denial or termination.
  2. Address it to the right office - submit the written request to the MCSO Facility Security Unit Manager.
