Before Your First Visit to Nassau County Jail: Registration & Visit Checklist
Your first visit runs a lot smoother when you handle registration and timing before you leave home. Use this checklist to set up your account, book within the allowed window, and avoid the common reasons visits get denied or forfeited.
Registration Prepare IDs
- ✓ Password and verify password
- ✓ First name and last name
- ✓ Date of birth (DOB)
- ✓ Primary phone number (and secondary phone number, if you have one)
- ✓ Address, including apartment number (if applicable)
- ✓ City, state, and ZIP code
- ✓ ID number
- ✓ ID type
- ✓ ID state
- ✓ ID expiration date
- ✓ Upload an ID image (front photo or scan)
- ✓ Upload an ID image (back photo or scan)
- ✓ If you are using a passport, the front/back ID images are not required
- ✓ Select the account type
Before starting the online registration, gather everything in one place. Have your ID details ready, along with front and back photos or scans to upload. (Using a passport? You won't need front/back images.) This lets you finish registration in one sitting instead of getting stuck halfway through.
Nassau County Jail requires you to request your visit at least 24 hours in advance, but no more than 5 days ahead. Requests outside that window won't be accepted.
Heads up: Same-day requests are typically denied. Walk-in visits aren't available for public scheduling.
Visiting days depend on which building the person is housed in, so confirm that first. Buildings B and D have public visits on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Building E has public visits on Tuesday and Thursday. Requests for a different building will be denied.
Plan your outfit so you are not turned away at the door. Orange, green, and yellow clothing are prohibited on the facility grounds.
- Arrive at least 15 minutes early - the facility advises early arrival so you can make the check-in window.
- Check in during the scheduled check-in time - if you do not make it during check-in, you will forfeit your visit.
Each public visit session gives you at least one hour of visitation time. The clock starts when the incarcerated person enters the visiting room, not when you arrive at the facility.
