Understanding Nassau County Jail's Building-Specific Visiting Schedule
Nassau County Jail schedules public visits by building and day of the week. First, find out where your loved one is housed. Then match that building to the correct visiting day, pick a session time, and arrive during the check-in window.
Public visits happen on specific days depending on the building. B and D Buildings are open for visits on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday only. If your loved one is in B or D, plan for one of those days.
E Building runs on a different schedule. Visits are held only on Tuesday and Thursday. Other weekdays won't work for E Building.
Note: You can only visit someone in the building where they're housed. Requests to visit in a different building will be denied.
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday have five visitation sessions. Start times are 8:15 am, 9:30 am, 12:00 pm, 1:15 pm, and 2:30 pm.
Thursday and Friday also have five sessions, but they run later. Start times are 12:15 pm, 1:30 pm, 4:30 pm, 5:30 pm, and 6:30 pm.
Session length: Each session gives you at least one hour of visiting time. The clock starts when your loved one enters the visiting room.
Arrive early: Get there 15 minutes before your check-in window opens. Miss the window, and you forfeit your visit.
Nassau County Jail uses strict check-in windows for each session. You can't just show up "around" the start time. For example, Session 1 check-in runs 8:00 am to 8:30 am, and Session 2 runs 9:15 am to 9:45 am. These windows correspond to the session start times: Monday through Wednesday sessions begin at 8:15 am, 9:30 am, 12:00 pm, 1:15 pm, and 2:30 pm. Thursday and Friday sessions begin at 12:15 pm, 1:30 pm, 4:30 pm, 5:30 pm, and 6:30 pm.
Attorney visits work differently. Attorneys can either pre-schedule or walk in.
Closed days: No visits on Saturdays, Sundays, or Nassau County holidays.
