David Wade visiting hours and the 11:00–11:30 a.m. lockout: when you can (and can't) arrive
Planning a trip to David Wade Correctional Center? Timing matters. Here's what you need to know about visiting days, the midday admission lockout, and the latest time you can start a visit—so you don't get turned away at the door.
David Wade holds regular visitation Thursday through Saturday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Plan your travel and check-in around that window.
Here's the catch: even though visiting hours run through midday, David Wade doesn't admit incoming visitors between 11:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Show up during that half-hour and you'll be told to wait until the lockout ends. Build your drive time around those exact minutes.
Warning: Incoming visitors aren't admitted between 11:00 and 11:30 a.m. Don't plan to arrive during that window.
Visits can't start after 3:00 p.m. The visiting room stays open until 4:00 p.m., but you need to be through check-in and ready to begin before 3:00.
If your loved one is in intake status - meaning they've just arrived or are still being processed - visitation isn't allowed yet. This applies even on regular visiting days.
Planning Tips
- ✓ If you’re trying to visit in the morning, plan to arrive well before 11:00 a.m. so you’re not caught in the 11:00–11:30 a.m. admission lockout.
- ✓ Don’t plan a last-minute arrival - no visits may start after 3:00 p.m.
- ✓ Visiting hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; give yourself enough time within that window to arrive, check in, and be ready to start your visit.
Schedules and procedures can change, especially around holidays. The Louisiana DOC caregiver handbook recommends checking the DOC website for the most current information on prison policies before you make the trip.
