How to Get on the Visiting List at Nebraska Correctional Center for Women (NCCW)

At Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) facilities like Nebraska Correctional Center for Women (NCCW), you can’t schedule a visit unless you’re already an approved visitor on the incarcerated person’s visiting list. That rule applies to everyone - adults and minors - so don’t make travel plans or take time off work until you know you’ve been approved and your visit is actually scheduled.

How to Get on the Visiting List at Nebraska Correctional Center for Women (NCCW)
  1. Start from the NDCS visitation tools - Use the “Schedule a Visit” option found through the NDCS visitation page (under the facility picture) or through the NDCS Friends & Family page.
  2. Open the “Schedule a Visit” request - This is where you’ll submit the information needed to request a visit.
  3. Enter your details carefully - Fill in the required information completely so your request isn’t delayed.
  4. Submit your request and watch for follow-up - After you send it in, keep an eye on your email for updates and confirmation.

Note: Even if you can see the scheduling option, you still must be an approved visitor on the incarcerated person’s visiting list before a visit can be scheduled.

Build in time. NDCS requires visitation requests to be submitted at least seven days before the date you want to visit. If you’re trying to line up a trip, childcare, or time off, treat that seven-day window as a minimum - last-minute requests aren’t going to work.

You can also plan ahead: visitation requests may be scheduled up to four weeks in advance from the date you make the request. If you’re coordinating with other family members or traveling from out of town, submitting earlier (within that four-week window) gives you more options before slots fill up.

Visits are assigned first-come, first-served, so earlier requests have a better shot at your preferred date. If you have flexibility, include backup dates and times - staff can slot you into the next available opening if your first choice is taken.

Watch your email: NDCS sends email confirmation at least three days before your scheduled visit. Check your spam/junk folder too, especially if you don’t see anything as the date gets closer.

If you were removed from someone’s approved visiting list, there’s a waiting period you can’t shortcut. When an incarcerated individual requests that a visitor be deleted from their approved visiting list, that deleted visitor can’t be added to another person’s approved visiting list for six months. That visitor also can’t be reinstated on the original person’s list for six months (when the removal was at that person’s direction).
