Before You Drive to NLCI: Parking, Arrival Timing, and Vehicle Rules to Know

A smooth visit at New Lisbon Correctional Institution (NLCI) starts before you ever reach the front door. The rules below cover arrival timing, parking, and vehicle policies so nothing cuts your visit short.

You can't show up early and wait on the grounds. NLCI only allows visitors on the property starting 15 minutes before visiting hours, so time your drive accordingly.

There's also a hard cutoff for getting inside. NLCI won't admit visitors during the last hour before visiting hours end. Show up too late and you'll be turned away, even if visiting hours are still technically going.

On top of that one-hour cutoff, there's a second rule tied to your scheduled visit time. Entry is not permitted within the last 30 minutes of a scheduled visit. So even if overall visiting hours are still running, arriving late to your specific slot can keep you from getting in.

Parking-access-and-enforcement

  • If you use a handicapped parking space, your vehicle must have handicapped license plates or a state-approved display card that authorizes handicapped parking.

Don't leave your vehicle on state property long-term. Any vehicle left for over 48 hours will be towed, and the cost falls on the owner.

  1. Report a disabled or stalled vehicle: Let the lobby sergeant know if your vehicle is disabled or stalled.
  2. Get it attended to or removed quickly: The vehicle must be attended to and/or removed as soon as possible.

Note: Secure your vehicle before you go inside (windows rolled up, doors locked). If staff find your vehicle unsecured, your visit may be terminated.

Once you arrive, head inside. NLCI does not allow loitering in the parking lot, and no one can remain on state property waiting for other visitors.

Leave pets at home. Animals are not permitted on state property, with the exception of service animals assigned to a person.

Before you head in, check your car with state-property rules in mind. Weapons, illegal drugs, and alcohol are prohibited on state property. NLCI is also tobacco-free, which covers tobacco, tobacco-like products, and vape products.
